Your dream player with flawless, true-to-life picture quality and the ability to play virtually any disc! The Philips DVD player delivers your movies and music entertainment experience. 12-bit Video DAC is a superior Digital-to-Analogue-Converter that preserves every detail of the authentic picture quality. It shows subtle shades and smoother graduation of colors, resulting in a more vibrant and natural picture. The limitation of the usual 10bit DAC becomes in particular apparent while using large screens and projectors. The 192KHz sampling enables you to have an accurate representation of the original sound curves. Together with a 24-bit resolution, more information is captured from the original analogue sound wave form, giving a much richer audio reproduction.

Wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy

We bought this in August. It got maybe 5 hours of use per week. It just died yesterday, 6 months after we purchased it. We tried several DVDs but the problem is consistently the same: the colors are now all distorted. I read another post and they experienced the same thing.

Don't even gamble on this thing. As another post commented, the DVD player is also very slow to turn on, respond, etc. Even if you get an unlikely gem that lasts, who wants to wait for the aggravation of having to wait for the DVD player to turn on, load, etc.

I'm donating this to the garbage dump. I'd recommend you steer clear of having to do the same.

Good player for the money, easy to set up . cons---remote is cheap, but works great with time warner dvr remote.

Slow response

For the price this player has a great picture, sound quality, is light weight and size wise can fit almost any where. This player for the most part is great, but had to only give it 4 stars. Power On is a bit slow and some times can cause an Abbott and Costello routine with the remote. I pushed the on button, but it didn't come on. I'll push it again, oh wait it just came on and now I turned it off. Player also can have a slow response time to the remote and depending on dvds, because of the delay, you won't be able to go back chapters without having to pause, go back a chapter, pause, go back a chapter and repeat.

Okay ...but not great ...woth the price, I suppose

Purchased this unit to replace what I thought was an identical unit that dropped dead after 4 or so years.
The unit is cheap and is Phillips, but it lacks a number of desirable features. Advancing forward or back is pretty good but I don't see a way to skip, forward or back, for a video unit. I used to be able to adjust frame by frame but not on this one, as yet. I guess it is worth the money, but I am sorry now, that I didn't spend more to get more advanced features.
