Good inexpensive DVD player!Reviewed by Jason Sepe, 2010-03-10
Pretty good DVD player, especially for the money. Purchased this for my grandmother and she loves it. Compact size and pretty simple control layout on the remote control. Loads discs quickly.
Don't buy this item!Reviewed by Spyscience, 2010-03-09
I was excited to buy this product because of all the featured online services. After a few months of use, I can firmly say that it's a big piece of junk. It constantly freezes up. Online- crap, always having network issues. Functionality- it always freezes, doesn't have a sleep timer. It would be great if it only worked. I had read reviews about it freezing up and having network issues but that it was resolved with a firmware update, not so. I would stay far away from this product if I were you.
Simply great!Reviewed by Annie, 2010-03-07
Our old DVD player died and we wanted an inexpensive, reliable, simple to use replacement. This is it. Love it. So easy to set up and so simple to operate. The sound is fine and we are totally happy with it.
Not GoodReviewed by Magic Maite, 2010-03-05
The first player I was sent started skipping just after the return period ended. And then the skips got worse and longer in between, to the point that movies became unwatchable. After wrestling with Amazon to exchange it, they finally did replace it. Now, the second one they sent out has a problem with the eject button, which seems to open and close whenever it likes and some times I get my finger caught in it or a disk gets jammed. This is a horrible player and I don't recommend it. My last player lasted about 8 years, it was $25 dollars, a non-famous brand, Colby, and it worked WAY better than this. Also, I would suggest not buying electronics from Amazon. Amazon is great for books, but their return period on electronics sucks. They'll give you the run around, try to get you to go to the manufacturer, and you have to strong-arm them to take back something that legitimately doesn't work. Let Amazon deal with Sony! Buy electronics from a place that has a good, legit and reasonable return policy. I know I won't be buying electronics from Amazon again.
Complex audio setupReviewed by S. Chilton, 2010-03-05
I bought this DVD player when my old was not working well. The price and size of the player were right. I struggled to set up the audio. The instructions are not clear, I just kept trying all the options until something finally worked. The player worked okay for about three months. Last week the audio worked on some DVDs, but not all. Now I have no audio on DVDs that worked last week. I have tested my connections and the are fine. I'm again looking at setup instructions. I tried several combinations without success. When I get home from work I want to pop and DVD in to watch, not struggle with the audio setup on my player. Sony needs to make setup easier.
