AM I CRAZY???

Reviewed by Globalmarkit, 2010-03-04

Unless Im missing something....you can only fast forward or rewind, skip chapters, etc WITH THE REMOTE. I would think the cheapest Coby would at least have the fast forward/rewind buttons on the actual player. Maybe not a big deal to most since it only seems to matter to me but that is a basic feature that the actual player should have.

Not to mention, dont lose the remote or have the batteries die.....you will be sitting through many FBI warnings and previews.

Does what it's supposed to do

I've had no problems with this DVD player. It does what it's supposed to do; it plays DVDs (among other formats) with no hitches.

Pros:
-inexpensive
-quiet
-very light
-quick load time
-audio sounds nice
-100x fast-forward and rewind

Neutral:
-remote is fickle, you have to point directly at the player
-would rather have the on button on the left and open/close on the right
-movie stops when you go to setup

Cons:
-no time display, only chapters
-didn't really notice a difference with night mode

No problems except noisy sometimes

I would recommend this if you are looking for an inexpensive player to play regular DVDs. The player looks good, the remote is decent and it's easy to use. So far it has played every DVD I have put in it without any problems.

The only complaint I have is that whenever it's loading a menu or when you start the movie it's very noisy and seems to take longer than other DVD players. However, once the movie starts it goes all the way though without making any noise, so really it's not that big of a deal.

Cheap but very limited

I was looking for a DVD player that could play at least .AVI, mp3, .MOV, .wav, formats... I was dissapointed to learn that this Toshiba cannot do it.

Doesn't play everything

To put it bluntly, about half my DVD's won't play at all, gives a weird error message - I can't even remember the message. However the others play fine - no idea what is causing this. These tapes all play fine in my other DVD player, and played fine in the old one until it broke, so I've got to assume its the DVD player that is broken not the tapes (and some of the non-functioning tapes are new or nearly new). I adjusted for the problem by putting this DVD player into a place where its only used by my wife for her exercise videos (most of which play), but I shouldn't have had to do that.
